Missions Short-Term Mission Reports Hamakua 2024
MILA: This mission trip was an act of radical obedience to God. Partnering with First Assembly of God Hamakua was a humbling, challenging, uplifting, encouraging, and powerful experience. We witnessed God’s hand touching people when we prayed for their needs during the healing and deliverance service, fed the homeless, evangelized in the community, and engaged with the children! I am praying that they will continue to walk in obedience to God! My life was infused with a new breath of life and a deeper consecration to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! I thank Him for the opportunity to impact people’s lives.
BREE: This mission trip to Hamakua was my second mission trip. It was a totally different speed than what I’m used to. We went door-to-door, ministered in downtown Hilo, held a healing and deliverance service, conducted a three-day Vacation Bible School, performed baptisms, and fed the “less fortunate souls” who didn’t have homes. One of my favorite things was teaching VBS with Tasha; I’m really just a big kid myself and love to sing, dance, and have fun. I bonded with many of the keiki as we taught them about The Fruit of the Spirit and had so much fun on the first day that I didn’t want it to end. God’s anointing on missions is so epic and nothing compares. The way He divinely orchestrates everything is so amazing. I would encourage everyone to go on missions—you will never regret doing the Lord’s work.
MICHAEL: This was my first mission trip. I’m so blessed to have been able to be a part of it in Hamakua. I was able to go back to a place where I was once in bondage and where the enemy had a stronghold on me. But God had other plans for me. God decided to use me for His glory by sending me to share my testimony with my brothers and sisters who are struggling to find a way out. I was able to be a light of hope, testifying that God is the God of the impossible and the great I AM.
ARNET: As this was my first mission trip, it was humbling and amazing to see God’s presence moving in Hamakua. We witnessed the impact of God’s miraculous power in the healing and deliverance service. God moved at the women’s tea party, during the Saturday water baptism, and at Vacation Bible School, where we taught children the Fruits of the Spirit. Together with leaders from the Hamakua church, we were able to evangelize the neighborhoods and homeless camps, as well as feed the homeless.
TASHA: This mission trip has moved me closer to God, and I’ve witnessed my Hilo people get moved by the Holy Spirit. God’s love was poured out on my team members, and evangelizing was so much easier with the team here. These were the things I dreamt about, and also our family reunification. The baptism just showed me the love of God. We have such a good, good Father.
SANDY: This is my fifth short-term mission trip. I’ve been to Canada twice, Okinawa twice, and Hamakua once. God has worked miracles each time I went on a mission trip. Our team was a variety of wonderful personalities, and everyone did exactly what God had in mind. This mission trip proved to be fruitful in many ways, as God did an amazing work with the team. No words can express the love and compassion God bestowed upon us.
