December 19, 1946
Pastor and Mrs. Eldon Vincent arrive in Honolulu. Pioneer work starts.

February 23, 1947
First service at the Lincoln Grammar School Auditorium.

May 1947
Acquisition of 930 Lunalilo Street property.

July 6, 1947
Sunday School and services start in this permanent location. Sixty people present
in Sunday School.

Spring 1948
Work begins on “the most beautiful Quonset hut in the world.

August 1948
The growing congregation moves out under a large tarpaulin under large trees in the front yard.

January 1949
The worst storm in thirty-four years strikes. Canvas tarpaulin rips and congregation moves back into the building.

May 1949
Woodrow Yasuhara appointed assistant pastor.

Fall 1949
Aloha Kindergarten opens.

November 1949
Aloha Bible Institute (A.B.I.) begins with ten students from islands in the Pacific.

1950–1969

May 21, 1950
The new church building dedicated.

August 1950
The old buildings are torn down to make way for A.B.I. dormitory.

1951
Aloha Book Room known later as Aloha Bible Book and Music Center opens.

May 1952
Woodrow Yasuhara graduates in the first class of A.B.I.

January 1953
Woodrow Yasuhara comes on staff full-time.

1954–1956
In less than one 18-month period, 1,000 souls saved as a result of the Holy Spirit working through the efforts put forth in all departments.

November 1956
The two-story concrete educational building program begins. It is engineered to accommodate four stories if needed.

1969
The Vincents resign the pastorate after serving 23 years.

December 1969
Pastor and Mrs. Francis Sturgeon elected pastors.

1970–1979

1973
The Sturgeons resign the pastorate after serving three years, and Pastor and Mrs. Sam Sasser elected to the pastorate.

May 1973
The dormitory building and rooming house are demolished. A ground breaking ceremony is held which starts the development of a fourteen-story, fifty-five unit, three-deck parking condominium complex.

June 30, 1974
The entire new complex-renovated church with balcony, church lobby, roof, multiple-use area on the third floor of the educational building and the condominium dedicated.

February 1976
The Sassers resign the pastorate after serving four years.

June 1976
Pastor and Mrs. Roy Sapp elected to the pastorate.

1977
The Samoan and Korean Fellowships outgrow 930 Lunalilo and relocate to their own locations.

1977
Third floor of the educational building remodeled to accommodate classroom spaces for School for Christian Growth. Children’s Church reorganized to Carpenter’s Workshop. Singles Christian Fellowship groundwork established.

1978
Honolulu School of Theology established. Potential properties reviewed that year included Kukui Mortuary, Block F in Downtown area and 2424 Pali Highway.

1979
Sunday morning services increased to three. Yokefellows and later in the year Life Groups established.

1980–1989

1980
Fourth worship service added which made a total of five services on Sundays. One-A-Day Tract Ministry established. Acts XXIX Discipleship Training Center founded.

1981
Christian Academy opens its doors.

1982
Pneuma Bible Institute established. Investigation of the Toyo Property.

1983–1984
Preliminary research on the GEM property and the Universal Motors property.

1985
His In Service (HIS) founded.

Mid-1985
Negotiations for Universal Motors property continued.

December 1985
Announcement of the Red Hill fee simple 21.7 acre lot made.

March 2, 1985
Dedication Service at the Red Hill site as we go forward to possess the land.

June 15, 1986
Ground breaking ceremony on Red Hill property.

January 1988
Beginning of a two-year interim move after the Lunalilo property is sold and before the All-Purpose Building is constructed. The church office is temporarily housed at 1188 Bishop Street. Sunday services and classes are held at Red Hill Elementary School. Christian Academy makes Kalihi Union Church its home.

November 12, 1989
Celebration Sunday. Completion of All-Purpose Building.

1990–1999

August 28, 1991
Certificate of Occupancy Permit received.

April 25, 1991
Dedication Service.

September 3, 1992
Christian Academy Preschool opens.

January–September, 1994
Rick Seaward serves as interim pastor while Pastor Sapp is on sabbatical leave.

September 1994
Pastor Sapp resigns after eighteen years of service, and Klayton Ko is elected senior pastor.

50th Anniversary Jubilee.

Hamakua Assembly of God on the Big Island comes under First Assembly of God.

September 1998
First Gideonite team sent to Mbale, Uganda, to plant a church.

September 1999
Second Gideonite team sent to Yokohama, Japan, to plant Kirigaoka Christian Church.

October 1999
Pastoral help and oversight provided to Mt. Zion Assembly of God (later known as First Assembly of God Windward Regional Center).

2000–2009

May 2000
Gideonite team sent to Osaka, Japan.

August 2000
Gideonite team sent to London, United Kingdom, to plant a church with fourteen other teams from churches around the world.

June 2002
Christian Academy graduates first senior class.

2010
First Assembly of God’s annual missions giving surpasses $1 million dollars for the first time.

September 2010
Catalyst Ministerial Internship program is launched. All five interns eventually go on to join the pastoral staff.

July 2010
First Convoy of Hope “Day of Compassion” is held at Aloha Stadium. Twenty-one tons of food and supplies are distributed to over 14,000 guests. Over a thousand volunteers and a hundred local businesses, churches, nonprofits and government agencies participate in the event.

August 2011
South Korea mission team launched.

September 2011
Second “Day of Compassion” held in three locations (Aloha Stadium, Kapolei and Hilo).

July 2012
Third “Day of Compassion” held on Molokai and Oahu.

Easter 2013
First Assembly of God Metro launches first service at the Atherton YMCA in Mānoa.

Pastor Ko elected as Hawaii Assemblies of God District Superintendent.

September 2014
Pastor Ko celebrates 20th anniversary as senior pastor.

Christian Academy fully accredited by WASC and ACSI.

“Lights on the Hill” Christmas light show debuts at Red Hill main campus.

Fourth “Day of Compassion” held at Aloha Stadium.

The Shelter begins receiving homeless mothers into its program for the first time.

2020–Present

March 2020
The COVID-19 pandemic begins to spread around the world. First Assembly of God’s Online Church platform is launched in response to stay-at-home mandates. Sunday services are streamed from every region, including Kids Church, Japanese language, and Marshallese language services.

April 2020
Easter Drive-Thru fundraising event is held to support local health care workers.
